What is Fluoroscopy?

Injection therapy, using steroids, PRP or stem cells, is an effective and non-invasive option for interventional treatments. At Caliber Pain™, we rely on fluoroscopy, an imaging technique, to provide advanced treatment modalities for pain management. We may also use ultrasound as another option for image-guided procedures. If you are looking for a pain management clinic that utilizes cutting-edge technology for treatment, come visit us at Caliber Pain™ in Midtown Manhattan.

Fluoroscopy for Musculoskeletal Procedures

Fluoroscopy is an imaging technique that uses x-rays to obtain real-time moving images of your internal structures. Fluoroscopy may be performed to evaluate specific areas of the body, including the bones, muscles and joints.

During epidural injection procedures, fluoroscopic x-ray images accurately guide your doctor to position the needle used to inject pain medication, steroids, regenerative medicine and contrast dye material into the area being treated. This imaging technique is vital for ensuring accurate and precise placement of the needle to obtain the most reliable results from injection therapy.

Fluoroscopy uses radiation. Our state-of-the-art system uses the lowest possible radiation dose necessary to produce the highest quality images.

Ultrasound for Musculoskeletal Procedures

Ultrasound is another option for image-guided interventions. While fluoroscopy is the most common imaging modality, the use of ultrasound has rapidly grown. In addition to the advantage of no radiation, ultrasound allows for direct visualization of key soft-tissue structures, like the nerve bundles, to target and the blood vessels to avoid. There is also evidence to suggest that the use of ultrasound may require shorter procedure times and fewer needle passes, with identical success rates as fluoroscopy and fewer complications.

Caliber Pain™ offers both ultrasound and fluoroscopic x-ray guided procedures at our state-of-the-art medical facility in UES New York City. For advanced treatment modalities utilizing interventional and regenerative medicine, contact our team for an appointment.
