Ligament Sprain Treatment

Wherever two bones come together in the body, ligaments are used to join them together. Every joint in the body has ligaments that connect the various bones. When stress is put on a joint, pulling the bones in different directions, the ligaments holding the bones together can be damaged. Ligament strains are common in the ankle, knee and hip joints, limiting mobility. Caliber Pain™ offers ligament sprain treatment to reduce pain and improve healing at our interventional medicine clinic in New York City.

A sprain is when a ligament is torn, stretched or damaged due to excessive force. Ankle sprains are one of the most common sprains due to the weight put on this small joint. The hip, knee and ankle joints can be put under stress when playing impact sports, which is a common cause of sprains. Most sprains can be treated with conservative therapy to reduce pain and inflammation. Severe sprains may require the use of a brace, physical therapy, injection therapy and other treatments to reduce pain and hasten the healing of ligaments.

Muscle Strain Treatment

Muscle strains are one of the most common soft tissue injuries and can occur in any part of the body. Strains can involve either muscles, tendons or both. Tendons attach muscle to bone and may be injured alone or with a muscle strain. When a muscle is stretched or torn, it causes pain and inflammation. Like sprains, muscle strain treatment consists of conservative therapies including ice, rest and anti-inflammatory medications. Severe muscle or tendon strains may require more extensive treatments, including physical therapy, corticosteroid injections, regenerative medicine and other therapies.

If you have a severe ligament sprain or muscle strain, our pain specialists can help you recover quicker and reduce your pain. Contact Caliber Pain™ at our clinic in Midtown Manhattan to schedule an evaluation of your muscle or ligament injury.
